This is what your template will look like. Its sort of a pattern.
You can use your regular home printer. You don`t need anything fancy or color ink.
Paper for your paper model
Use any kind of paper you want. If you want a model that will be a bit more solid, use card stock (thicker paper). I like to use 65-80 lb.
The color of your paper will determine the color of the model. For different results, use different color paper/card stock. You can also use white and spray paint the parts to add color. This is what we do for our black paper models since you usually cannot print on black paper.
1- First things first, download a template
You can download one from here:
2- Next step, print your template
Now that you have a pdf template, you will need to print the 'pattern'/template on paper.
For Paper models:You can choose the color paper of your choice. Please look at the pages before printing as it may give you hints about which color would work better and such. For the thickness of paper you want to use, we recommend carstock from 65 lb to 80 lb for 'regular' models. For our Xtralarge ones, anywhere from 100 to 130 lb should do the trick.
For Wood models: Depending on the size of the template, you may need to use the ‘poster’ setting of your home printer. For example, our printer’s biggest size prints ‘legal paper’ so 8.5 by 14 inches. When we use an A2 paper size template, we divide our A2 in 4 8.5 x 11 inch and assemble our template to final A2 size ‘poster’.
Follow you printer instructions and this should work for you as well.
