What's more was the level of enthousiams that everyone had towards my small business wishing me luck and encouraging to keep going. One more reason why being a maker and artisan producing producst locally is so exciting and gratyfying. I am very thankful to everyone who came by to see my and soon to be thier little paper creatures. Until next year or until my next show. Check out where we'll be here.
MERCI / THANK YOU
For what seems to be my whole life I have, at times, felt inadequate, and oppressed, because all I ever wanted was to have fun. Yes, fun. In primary school I was a regular fixture at the director's office, in high school as well. Not because I was 'mean' to other kids (although I must also confess to having been mean to a few kids in my youth and to this day I still feel very sad about that) I was often visiting the director's office because I was having too much fun and it was disturbing others. Later, while in competitive sport, I remember being shunned by some coaches because I was having too much fun and I was not serious enough. This pattern as followed me all the way to adulthood where I always feel the need to inject fun in everything I do. So much so that I ended up 'needing' to leave my 'too serious' of a day job to become a full time fun seeker!!
I have understood why having fun is so important to me through therapy and deep soul searching. Fun is a way to combat stress and anxiety, as well as, a way to stay young at heart. Since I am anxious by nature, fun for me balances my psychic Today I can say that I feel free to be who I want to be: a fun loving person who loves to have...you guessed it, fun!!
Fun for me is like breathing, I believe it should be a part of everything we do. I think that the lack of fun is the cause of many illness in our modern world. I feel that my life's mission is to help people see that having fun will make them feel healthier and happier. I know very well that there is a time and place for everything however I also know that there is nothing wrong with having fun in everything we do. Leaders especially have be able to nurture fun behavior as it will ultimately equal to success. That said, its important to distinguish between the 'good' fun and the chemicly enhanced fun. As kids we don't need any substance to have fun and it turns out as adults neither however for many reasons too many times we feel we must use 'something' in order to have fun. This screws up everything in the process. I suggest you try simple fun, like making stuff! You won't believe how great you'll feel!
I love this picture. This is me at my mom's place in 'Saint-Fabien sur mer' a great little seaside town near Rimouski in the province of Quebec. I love the picture because I love the sea air, the fresh (freaking cold!) salt sea water and the wild life that inhabits it. This is where I take long walks along the shore and contemplate life and my place in it. This past 5 months I did a lot of that...contemplating. I was kinda force too (I may get into those details at a later date) but forced or not, it is good to take a moment to reflect. Are you living the life you want to live? Are you where you want to be? I think that if it’s a HUGE NO, then you ought to make a change so that you can get closer to the life that you want. Easier said than done, I get it! However if you wait too long, life may take care of the change for you but it may be under much harsher conditions.
I am a true believer that our physical state reflects our emotional and mental state. Not always, but most often. If you ignore the signs for too long, even if it’s because you can take it and your tough, there will be no gain in this kind of 'toughness'. I think it takes a tremendous amount of courage to make a move and I applaud those who have the guts to stand up and make shit happen for themselves. (Now, ..I am not talking about narcissistic people who only do what they want, but regular good people who stand-up for themselves without hurting or diminishing others)
If you’re like me your set behavior wants to please those around you, which comes in handy when you are an athlete, student, mother, wife or employee but there is also a down side to it. You may succeed because you end-up pleasing your coach, your husband, your employer, but are you really doing what you want to be doing or are you just pleasing those around you. I know, I know,...there is such a fine line between the pleasing and the being.
This is why once in a while you have to truly look at yourself in the mirror, or as seen in picture above, in the water and ask yourself: Is this me, or is this me pleasing? You may need the help of a friend or a professional to sort out your thoughts. This last phrase makes me think I will have to write about ‘asking for help’, its not easy but necessary sometimes. Its a whole other discussion so I will leave it for another time.
All of this to say that I have concluded that I was way off track!! And I have made the decisions to make a change.
