I never really had the chance to show you this amazing cool project I did with some even more amazing people. We found each other on FIVERR .

I have to say that before I made this satelite I didn't really know anything about this topic. Now, I seem to know even less but I did learn a little!

So many Clear coats!

In a previous post you will see how I have tried resin epoxy and although I did love the results, the process is quite involved. Therefore over the years I wanted to see if a spray-on application could do the trick.

To sum it up, after trying all the sprays I could find, the results are completely different then with resin epoxy. The thickness and the strength of your final object will not be like resin at all. That said, I did have a favourite spray and in my opinion, the results were satisfactory.

So my favorite was the one that said 'triple thick' coat. I would imagine regardless of the brand and what it says on can, anything that has a thicker application process would work best. The idea is that if its too liquid, it will take longer to dry and you will also need so many layers that it's not useful. Again here, regardless of the brand, I found that they all were very similar in smell and process.

One last bit, I found that the matte sprays were not really doing what I had imagined they would do. After a few application and once dry, they left sort of a white patchy cloud on the models. Also when I applied them on the glossy surface of my other 'resined' models, its like they basically just clouded the surface. I guess its 'normal' meaning that for a surface to become matte if its glossy to begin with, it has to take away the shine so it needs to 'matte' it but still, I wasn't really pleased with the end result.

** Next I will try a peel off rubber spray paint available to use on cars and also, a 2K clear coat (as opposed to all previous 1K products above). 1k=1 component versus 2k= 2 component products.
