I love this picture. This is me at my mom's place in 'Saint-Fabien sur mer' a great little seaside town near Rimouski in the province of Quebec. I love the picture because I love the sea air, the fresh (freaking cold!) salt sea water and the wild life that inhabits it. This is where I take long walks along the shore and contemplate life and my place in it. This past 5 months I did a lot of that...contemplating. I was kinda force too (I may get into those details at a later date) but forced or not, it is good to take a moment to reflect. Are you living the life you want to live? Are you where you want to be? I think that if it’s a HUGE NO, then you ought to make a change so that you can get closer to the life that you want. Easier said than done, I get it! However if you wait too long, life may take care of the change for you but it may be under much harsher conditions.
I am a true believer that our physical state reflects our emotional and mental state. Not always, but most often. If you ignore the signs for too long, even if it’s because you can take it and your tough, there will be no gain in this kind of 'toughness'. I think it takes a tremendous amount of courage to make a move and I applaud those who have the guts to stand up and make shit happen for themselves. (Now, ..I am not talking about narcissistic people who only do what they want, but regular good people who stand-up for themselves without hurting or diminishing others) If you’re like me your set behavior wants to please those around you, which comes in handy when you are an athlete, student, mother, wife or employee but there is also a down side to it. You may succeed because you end-up pleasing your coach, your husband, your employer, but are you really doing what you want to be doing or are you just pleasing those around you. I know, I know,...there is such a fine line between the pleasing and the being. This is why once in a while you have to truly look at yourself in the mirror, or as seen in picture above, in the water and ask yourself: Is this me, or is this me pleasing? You may need the help of a friend or a professional to sort out your thoughts. This last phrase makes me think I will have to write about ‘asking for help’, its not easy but necessary sometimes. Its a whole other discussion so I will leave it for another time. All of this to say that I have concluded that I was way off track!! And I have made the decisions to make a change.
